Civil Disobedience for Healthcare Reform
Who is the Rosa Parks of 2009?

5/16/09

Dear American Patriot—

Who is the Rosa Parks of 2009?

Can you imagine what it must have been like to challenge the white establishment during the 1950’s and 1960’s?  Who could have imagined that when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat a chain of events began that changed our nation to its very core?

Now, consider healthcare reform.  Real reform.  What effort will be required to combat the powerful healthcare lobbyists and win meaningful legislation that protects the interest of the working family?  If you are like us, you are concerned that the financial bailout will be a drop in the bucket compared to the healthcare bailout.  Already, there is talk about legislation that will tax the medical benefits provided by your employer…is this the direction for reform?   We say “not No, but HELL NO!”

Rather than wait to see what legislation congress passes, we have decided to exercise our freedom of speech and advocate a relatively simple solution for reducing costs: require physicians to disclose cost of treatment at the point of care, when medical and financial decisions are made and before costs are incurred.  To achieve this aim we are advocating civil disobedience in the form of exam room sit-ins.

To learn more about Cost Disclosure at the Point of Care and our strategy for achieving it, we invite you to review the contents of this site.  Register your support (Contact Page) and recieve information and periodic updates on this topic. We have posted videos on YouTube that explain our reasoning and included links to the videos on the site (below).

Feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, criticisms, etc.

Sincerely,
